Got the firewall seam sealed and primed this morning. Took it somewhat easy the rest of the day, mainly running a bunch of errands and cleaning up the garage (and the house).

I also planned out the repair piece I’ll have to make for where the bottom of the fender bolts on the passenger’s side. Hoping to get to making that piece and doing the same on the other side soon .

The prep isn’t too bad since it’s fairly satisfying, but spraying on the paint will be the best part. In the end I’ll have a nice engine bay (and much less rust) in the only version of a Chevelle that consistently has nobody care about it!

Depending how the timing works out with getting things back together vs the arrival of spring, I may do more bodywork/paint beyond the originally planned rust repair. (Timing factor is that I won’t delay putting it back on the road for minor bodywork; but if I’m getting it together and it’s still March or something, might as well do the doors etc.)

I did! I’m not sure yet what the next goal is, I’m thinking about “have it in paint/ ready to start putting bits back on” by the end of the month. Definitely doable, not sure if it’s aggressive enough though . I have no idea how long it’ll take to repair where the fenders bolt, which is the next step. Otherwise it’s just removal of suspension/steering, then prepping the frame.

Yeah, repairs like that are hard to predict. Sometimes your best laid plans go sideways right quick.
